Alabama Slim - Hot Times in Panama
The pilot announces over the intercom of the Braniff International Airways flight to Panama, “I am sorry to inform you, but we are forced to make a landing in Cuba.”
'Oh no, not again!' thought Alabama Slim.
Silence.
There was muttering, a woman crying, then a baby picking up the vibes to join her. Everyone looks nervous.
The pilot came back on the intercom, “We will be landing in Guantanamo in about 45 minutes. We are told we will need to deplane, but it is hoped that the delay will not be long. Thank you for your patience.”
Relief was felt all around, some nervous laughter and the woman quit crying. Stewardesses were working the aisles, also with looks of relief on their faces, but taking last minute orders for refreshment in an effort to further bring things back to normal.
'Good.' he thought. 'Now for a little more sleep before we land.'
And that was just the beginning...
Follow Alabama Slim as he hits the wild town of Panama, Panama, as well as the jungles and waters of the tropical area, battling La Guardia National, a bad policeman, corrupt government officials of the Torrijos regime and a shark. He also rescues a fellow soldier from a rural province jail.
