 Larry McDowell is retired from the U.S. Army and currently resides in Jiangmen, China with his wife Hong. He has traveled around the world, lived in several countries on three continents. His travels and experiences in the Army helps to build realistic pictures of the places and characters in his books. He has previously written non-fiction books about the Hash House Harriers, including the Hash Bible, a complete reference of this world's largest running club - now in its 19th edition. He is the owner and webmaster for worldhhh.com which is the primary website for the Hash House Harriers since 1995.
Alabama Slim was his first published fiction novel. As he states in the acknowledgements, he owes his love of action books to the reading of Barry Sadler and his courage to finally write novels to his friend Mike Garrett, who influenced and was influenced by his own friend Steven King. Mike was mentioned in King's 'On Writing'. Larry is now working on the third book in the Alabama Slim series taking the character to Panama, with the second book 'Hijacked' scheduled for printing sometime this fall.
Larry is also currently working on a juvenile graphical novel about some American animals who travel to China and meet up with new friends. He will be in Orlando hosting the World Interhash the last weekend in September, 2012, for the world gathering of the Hash House Harriers – the world’s largest running club. He plans to attend some book signings in Orlando a couple of weeks prior.
